New Processes to Operate a Global Supply Chain
Design and implementation of critical business processes for the world’s second largest coffee retailer as a new international supply chain is rolled out.
Rapid international expansion for our client has driven the need for a new, more responsive, supply chain. As a result, existing business processes were no longer relevant and entirely new processes and operating procedures were critical. Working with cross-functional teams Logiworx lead the redesign, documentation and implementation of the processes.
Within an environment of considerable business and organisational change, many business critical processes needed to be designed and implemented. Failure to implement these processes would result in service failures, cost and capital escalation and ultimately constrain business growth.
The new global supply chain, designed by Logiworx, was documented and key business requirements specified. The initial process design phase involved mapping of existing AS IS processes to both ensure the project team had a clear understanding of current practise and to engage the cross functional teams. This method also clearly identified current constraints and ‘waste’ within existing processes. Moving forward, the same process teams were involved in workshops to develop new TO BE processes which were captured as process maps and signed-off by the development teams. Once agreed, Logiworx documented the new processes in detailed standard operating procedures forming the basis for staff training and operating guides.
Implementation of new processes resulted in the identification and elimination of non-value adding tasks across the organisation. Processes were focused on the delivery of cost efficient service to the global retail network and drove further enhancement through IT systems development. Organisational structures were re-designed based on process flow rather than functional set-up.
